Episode 1 - Houseboat 

Summary:When Malcolm and Stevie's families go on a houseboat holiday together, nothing seems to go to plan. The brainy troublemaker is forced to go fishing, Dewey is left hanging for hours on a rope swing and a friendly game of Scrabble turns into a slang match. Meanwhile, Francis decides to quit school so he can go to Alaska and earn a fortune on an oil rig.

 

Episode 2 - Emancipation 

Summary:The liberated Francis encourages Lois to let him come home, while the Krelboynes and Malcolm do battle with a difficult new teacher.

 

Episode 3 - Book Club

Summary:Lois joins a book club to escape the horrors of her home life and Hal frets about how to make the boys behave in her absence. Meanwhile, Francis hitch-hikes through Canada.

 

Episode 4 - Malcolm's Girlfriend

Summary:Malcolm's schoolwork suffers after he gets a girlfriend and Francis holes up with a mad bomber in a remote Canadian cabin.

 

Episode 5 - Charity

Summary:Malcolm and his brothers gain personal profit from doing charity work for the church, and Francis discovers what life is like in a logging camp.

 

Episode 6 - Health Scare

Summary:Dewey babysits a hamster, Francis is challenged to a fight and Hal discovers a lump during a medical check-up.

 

Episode 7 - Christmas

Summary:When Malcolm, Reese, and Dewey finally go over the edge, Lois does the extreme, and takes away Christmas. The boys must behave for the whole day to get Christmas back.

 

Episode 8 - Poker

Summary:Hal and Abe fall out over a poker game, Francis gets trapped in a remote cabin during a blizzard and Reese trips the light fantastic at a dance class.

 

Episode 9 - Reese's Job

Summary:Reese is accused of stealing by his devious boss when he takes a job flipping burgers to pay for his car insurance. Malcolm is disgruntled when a genius joins his class, and Dewey must prove he can keep a goldfish alive before he gets the chance to own a puppy.

 

Episode 10 - Lois’ Makeover

Summary:Lois gets a makeover that instantly makes other employees look at her and even help her with other things, which she suddenly begins to enjoy, but later discovers that she is not being herself. Meanwhile, Hal plays basketball against the boys, but when Hal discovers how good they are getting, he fakes a broken talon, and Francis is in Alaska in a new rat-killer job.

 

Episode 11 - Company Picnic (1)

Summary:Juicy guest casting and ingenious plotting enliven an hourlong episode that airs in the plum post-Super Bowl slot. One storyline unfolds at Hal's company picnic, where Lois clashes with a blabby wife (Susan Sarandon) and her beleaguered spouse (Kaczmarek's real-life husband, Bradley Whitford); and Hal runs afoul of his new boss (Stephen Root) and the big cheese (Patrick Warburton). In Alaska, Francis's scheme to win a bet involves rigging a hockey game that pits loggers vs. a fearsome women's squad led by a blowhard coach (Terry Bradshaw).

 

Episode 12 - Company Picnic (2)

Summary:Hal must fake that he is a man that he is not, and in the end that ends in painful results. Dewey faces with candy troubles, Lois fights against the lousy and non-stop talking woman, and Malcolm and Reese are both tied up, by feet, with two people they preferred not better not to.

 

Episode 13 - Reese Drives

Summary:Reese finally gets the opportunity to drive, while being in his driver test, with a girl, and after believing he crashed with a car, Reese goes on escaping from police, which causes a disturbance with Lois. Meanwhile, Malcolm helps Craig to install a new television system, and Francis gets in trouble after doing promise-by-promise.

 

Episode 14 - Cynthia's Back

Summary:Dewey helps Hal overcome his fear of kites, Malcolm reveals Cynthia's big secret, and Francis finds a totem pole unusually interesting.

 

Episode 15 - Hal's Birthday

Summary:Francis brings his new wife home, while the boys get fed up with Lois shouting at them and decide to fly the nest.

 

Episode 16 - Hal Coaches

Summary:Dewey is appalled when Hal takes over as coach of the soccer team, and Malcolm gets more than he bargained for when he sets his computer to act out the lives of his family. Reese resorts to blackmailing his neighbor Ed, and things get heated during an ice-fishing trip.

 

Episode 17 - Dewey's Dog

Summary:Hal and Lois battle illness to keep a romantic rendezvous and Dewey brings home a dog - but can't find anywhere to hide it.

 

Episode 18 - Poker #2

Summary:Malcolm, Reese, and Stevie are stuck in the boy's room, with beautiful girls, while Hal plays poker with his new buddies.

 

Episode 19 - Clip Show

Summary:Hal forces the boys to see a psychiatrist after they refuse to admit to damaging the family car

 

Episode 20 - Jury Duty

Summary:With Lois on jury duty, Hal decides to solve the murder case he thinks she's working on. Meanwhile, Reese reveals a hidden talent when the boys get lost in a storm drain.

 

Episode 21 - Cliques

Summary:The Krelboyne whiz-kids are forced to integrate with various posers, goths and other cliques in the general school crowd, while Hal and Reese race to knock down Dewey's dominoes.

 

Episode 22 - Monkey

Summary:While ill in bed, Craig becomes infatuated with his helper - a capuchin monkey - and Reese takes control of the neighborhood watch after apprehending an intruder.
